Pune: Good Samaritans come to rescue of Farmers in COVID19 Lockdown

Pune, April 26, 2020: Farmer’s Dilemma over sale of farm produce was resolved by good Samaritans during COVID19 Lockdown. The members of Global Futures Network Inc, HELPO Foundation and MSDA (Medium and Small Development Agency) have reached out to these farmers and helped them in finding a market. 

 

Women farmers group at Purandar, Tribal belt farmers of Dahanu region and small farmers from Beed, have been in a dilemma during this lockdown. Small marginalized farmers have been the most affected by the lockdown in the state of Maharashtra. 

 

The Dahanu tribal belt farmers are located on state borders of Maharashtra and Gujarat and they have been unable to sell their products across. Beed farmers had been stranded with quintals of vegetables, and the women farmers have been holding 1000kg of onions with no buyers.

 

The members of Global Futures Network Inc, HELPO Foundation and MSDA (Medium and Small Development Agency) have reached out to these farmers and helped them in finding a market.

 

Dr Nehaal Mayur, United Nations Diplomat, made the necessary logistics arrangements including all formal permissions for the Dahanu farmers and he was personally able to deliver them in the border state of Gujarat.

 

Meanwhile, Milind Patil of MSDA and Deepak Bidkar of Prabhodan Madhyam collaborated with the Beed and Purandar farmers and ‘HELPO Foundation’ team for continuous procurement of their farm products to be delivered to migrant labour camps.

 

Samaritans Dr Nehaal Mayur, Mr.Prakash Nadge, Milind Patil, Nischad Salam, Sunil Ingole, Deepak Bidkar, Shamim Shaikh and Jasmine Shaikh took efforts to help these farmers
