Pimpri, 25th March 2023: The number of foreign travelers has increased as residents of Pimpri Chinchwad city prefer overseas education, employment, and tourism. Due to the significant increase in passport requests, the post office in Pimpri has a waiting period of about 2-2.5 months for passports, leading to a demand for increased facilities and staff.

Since April 2nd, 2017, citizens have been able to collect their passports at the PF post office in Kharalwadi, instead of having to go to Pune. However, the office cannot keep up with the growing number of passport applications, with only 65-68 appointments completed daily due to a shortage of counters. As a result, citizens often have to wait 60-75 days to receive their passports.

The growing population of the city and the demand for passports from citizens require at least four counters in the office to issue passports on time. Currently, only 65-68 applications are being disposed of per day, while at least 300 applications are expected to be signed per day.

To apply for a passport, citizens can visit the website www.passportindia.gov.in and fill out the application form. After paying the fee and selecting the preferred office, a date will be provided for document submission. However, there is currently a waiting period of about 2-2.5 months at the post office in Pimpri.
