Pune, 26th April 2024: A young construction labourer died after falling from the 5th floor of a construction site in Pune due to the absence of proper safety guidelines. This incident occurred at the Suyog Development Corporation Limited site near Chandan Hotel in Gultekdi on Wednesday (24th April), around 12:15 PM.

The deceased individual in this accident has been identified as Chandra Patra, aged 20 and a resident of Gultekdi. Regarding this, Suresh Patra, aged 35 and also a resident of Gultekdi, has filed a complaint with Swargate Police Station. Swargate Police have registered a case against the Director and site supervisor of Suyog Development Corporation Limited.

According to police reports, the complainant’s cousin, Chandra, was working at Suyog Development’s site in Gultekdi at noon. He and three other labourers were tasked with fitting a cable to the crane machine by opening it. At that time, safety protocols were not being followed by the builder and supervisor, and proper equipment was not provided. As a result, Chandra fell from the 5th floor into the parking lot, sustaining serious injuries to his head, both legs and neck, which led to his instant death. The labourers had repeatedly requested these safety measures, but their pleas were ignored.

Regarding this, Swargate Police have registered a case against the Director of Suyog Development Corporation Limited and the site supervisor under IPC Sections 304 (A) (causing death by negligence) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intentions). Assistant Police Inspector Kolambikar from Swargate Police is further investigating this matter.
