Warje, 21st September 2021: Cyberthieves swindled Rs 50,000 from a man’s bank account online by pretending to update his mobile SIM card information. The Karvenagar resident has lodged a complaint at Warje police station under Pune city police.
The accused contacted him on his mobile and pretended to be speaking from a mobile company. The caller told the complainant that if the SIM card information is not updated his SIM card will be blocked.
The caller asked him to download TeamViewer Quick Support app and transferred Rs 49,950 from the complainant’s bank account.
Police Inspector Amrit Marathe is investigating the matter.
