Pune Municipal Corporation Provides Online Application Form For 40% Property Tax Discount

Pune, 6th May 2023: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has made the process of getting a 40% discount in property tax easier for citizens by making the PT3 application form available on its website. This move comes after the Maharashtra state government decided to reinstate the discount, which was withdrawn in 2019 and caused public outcry.

To get the discount, citizens must submit a PT3 application to the Municipal Corporation, and around 53 lakh citizens are eligible. However, there was confusion about how to fill out the form and where to submit it.

The Head of the Taxation and Tax Collection Department, Ajit Deshmukh, clarified that citizens should print out the form from the Municipal Corporation’s website and submit it to the Property Inspector at the concerned zonal offices or civic facility centers.

Previously, citizens were required to pay a fee of Rs 50 to submit the application in person, but this has been waived. The municipal administration hopes that this will encourage more citizens to apply for the discount.

The taxation department has already started preparing bills to refund and re-enforce the discount to citizens who have paid it. This discount will be implemented from the current financial year.

This move is expected to bring relief to many citizens who have been struggling with the financial impact of the pandemic.
