Baramati, 18th November 2024: The Nationalist Congress Party – Sharadchandra Pawar (NCP-SP) held its final campaign meeting today in Baramati ahead of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Elections scheduled for 20th November. As per regulations, campaigning is no longer permitted until polling concludes. Party Chief Sharad Pawar, adhering to tradition, addressed voters at the Lendi Patti Ground. This time, he criticized his rebel nephew, Ajit Pawar, and urged Baramatikars to support Yugendra Pawar.

Sharad Pawar remarked, “I was first elected from Baramati in 1967. After that, you gave a chance to Ajit Pawar and made him Deputy Chief Minister three times. Now, the next generation belongs to Yugendra. Give power to Yugendra.” He further stated that Yugendra Pawar is capable and has the potential to achieve more than anyone else in the Pawar family.

Sharad Pawar also targeted the Mahayuti Government, raising questions about issues such as farmer suicides and criticizing the government’s policies, including the Ladki Bahin Scheme. He said, “This government has failed to address the debt burden on farmers. It is their policy to deny fair prices for agricultural products and impose export bans.”

Shifting his focus to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Sharad Pawar mocked the “400 paar” slogan that PM Modi championed before the Lok Sabha elections, implying the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) would secure over 400 MPs. However, the NDA failed to achieve that target. Sharad Pawar commented that such a high number of MPs is not necessary to form a government, but suggested that they may have aimed to alter the Constitution drafted by Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar.

Sharad Pawar also criticized the Mahayuti Government, highlighting the introduction of the Ladki Bahin Scheme following the NDA’s underperformance in Maharashtra during the Lok Sabha elections. He questioned the intent behind the scheme, saying, “On one hand, you introduce a ‘beloved sister’ scheme, but on the other hand, what is the current situation of these beloved sisters?” Pawar expressed his concern over the rising crimes against women, claiming that more than 67,000 cases have been registered with the Maharashtra Police regarding crimes against women.
