Pune: PCMC Education Team Explores Delhi’s Educational Model for Civic Schools Enhancement

Pimpri, 21st November 2023: In an endeavour to enhance education in civic schools, the Education Department Core Team of the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) recently embarked on a three-day exploration in Delhi. The team delved into Delhi’s educational landscape, focusing on the mentor-teacher model, vocational education institutions, and governance improvement, covering aspects like infrastructure, administration, and capacity building for teachers and principals.

During the visit, the team engaged in fruitful discussions with officials from key educational authorities, including the Delhi Board of School Education and the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT).

PCMC Commissioner Shekhar Singh expressed, “The visit to Delhi reflects PCMC’s commitment to offering top-notch education. Learning from Delhi’s experiences, we aim to implement effective strategies and innovations in our schools. This collaborative effort will undoubtedly contribute to the holistic development of our students.”

Tauseef Parvez, a core team member, highlighted, “Our focus was not just on increasing educational standards but on understanding the intricacies of students’ learning experiences. We studied the symbiotic roles of teachers, principals, and parents in shaping the educational landscape, emphasizing a holistic approach in Delhi public schools.”

Charushila Phuge, an assistant teacher at Secondary School Landewadi, noted, “The Delhi Education Department has made some experiments to accommodate students of all levels in the education stream, as well as to develop the professional and potential skills of the students. On this study tour, we were able to see those experiments closely.”

Manisha Sadavarte from Jadhavwadi Boys School shared her experience, stating, “The picture of government schools in Delhi was very different four to five years ago, but every teacher there themselves took the responsibility and to bring a drastic change in the children and the school, along with the teachers, the parents and the authorities also play an important role.”
