Pune: PCMC Targets 50% Property Tax Recovery by June 30, Rs 100 Crore Already Collected

Pimpri, 17th May 2023: Property owners in Pimpri-Chinchwad city have demonstrated remarkable tax compliance as 87,456 individuals have collectively deposited a staggering amount of Rs 100 crores in the municipal treasury within just one and a half months of the financial year 2023-24. Notably, 70,000 property owners took advantage of online payment facilities and availed various discounts.

 

The city boasts a total of 598,000 properties, including residential, industrial, non-residential, mixed-use, and vacant land. Thanks to the dedicated efforts of women’s self-help groups who conducted door-to-door campaigns, over half of the property owners in the city received updated information and assistance for tax payments. This proactive approach has resulted in an impressive collection of Rs 100.72 crores in property taxes within a short period.

 

PCMC Assistant Commissioner Nilesh Deshmukh emphasized the target of achieving a 50 percent recovery of the annual tax goal before June 30. To benefit from various discounts, citizens are urged to fulfill their property tax obligations by the end of June.

 

To ensure compliance from property owners with outstanding dues, the municipal corporation is issuing pre-seizure notices to 22,000 properties that had arrears exceeding one lakh as of March 31, 2023.

 

Out of the 87,456 property owners who paid their taxes, an impressive 70,489 individuals contributed Rs 80 crores through the online platform.
