Pimpri, 7th January 2024: The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has achieved the remarkable feat of securing the first position in the Central Government’s clean survey campaign. The city’s excellence in cleanliness has earned it a national-level award, which will be conferred by President Draupadi Murmu on Thursday (11th December) in Delhi.

Under the Central Government’s cleanliness survey, cities across the country were evaluated for their cleanliness levels, with citizens providing feedback online. Pimpri-Chinchwad excelled in this assessment, receiving a 5-star rating for being a garbage-free city and the highest accolade for being pollution-free.

This marks the first time that Pimpri-Chinchwad has been honoured with the award for a garbage-free city and pollution-free city at the national level. The city’s performance in the Swachh Survey has witnessed fluctuations over the past seven years, with rankings ranging from 9th to 72nd. However, in 2022, Pimpri-Chinchwad not only secured the 19th position but also clinched the top spot in the clean survey campaign.

Over the past seven years, Pimpri-Chinchwad has demonstrated a continuous improvement in cleanliness rankings. From a 72nd position in 2017, the city climbed to the 19th rank in 2022. This consistent upward trajectory highlights the dedication and efforts put forth by the municipal authorities and citizens alike to enhance cleanliness standards.
