Pune: PMC Changes Names Of 20 Wards In Final Ward Structure Ahead Of Municipal Elections
Pune, 17th May 2022: The political atmosphere in Pune seems to be tense as discussions are underway on the Maharashtra Municipal election 2022. Dates yet to be announced, political parties are ready to make their mark.
The final ward composition of Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) was scheduled to be announced on May 17, following the Supreme Court directing the Maharashtra State Election Commission to finalise the municipal election schedule within two weeks. PMC had already submitted a draft ward structure. According to the reports, it is seen that major changes were expected in the central ward, including Kothrud, Baner, Balewadi and Hadapsar.
The PMC final ward structure list for PMC elections has been released. 57 wards out of a total of 58 wards will elect three members while one ward will elect two members.

UPS Madan, State Election Commissioner informed that “Under Section 5 of the Maharashtra Municipal Corporation Act 1949, the number of elected representatives in PMC has been fixed to 173.”
However, the names of a total of 20 wards (Prabhag Name Changes) in this list have been changed:

2. Ward No.5 – West Kharadi – Wadgaon Sheri
3. Ward No.6 – Wadgaon Sheri – Ramwadi
4. Ward No.11 – Bopodi – Savitribai Phule Pune University
5. Ward No.15 – Panchavati – Gokhalenagar
6. Ward No.17- Shaniwar Peth – Navi Peth
7. Division No.19- Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Maidan Rasta Peth
8. Ward No.20- Pune Station – Matoshri Ramabai Ambedkar Road
9. Ward No.21- Koregaon Park – Mundhwa
10. Ward No.22- Manjari Budruk – Shewalwadi
11. Ward No.26- Wanwadi Gaothan – Vaiduwadi
12. Division No.27- Kasewadi – Lohianagar
13. Ward No.28- Mahatma Phule Smark – Bhavani Peth
14. Ward No.29- Mahatma Phule Mandai – Ghorpade Peth Udyan
15. Ward No.32- Bhusari Colony – Bavdhan Khurd
16. Ward No.33- Ideal Colony – Mahatma Society
17. Ward No.40- Bibwewadi – Gangadham
