Pune: Police collect Rs 25 lakh fine from those not wearing masks, just in three days

Pune, September 7, 2020: In the last three days, Pune Police have collected a total fine of around Rs 25 lakhs from those wandering in the city without masks. A total of 5,204 persons have been charged for the same in the last three days.

While the process of unlocking has begun in the state, with the reopening of shops and malls and the removal of travel restrictions, the administration has urged people to follow the protocol of social distancing and wear masks while in public. However, many are still found to be roaming around without wearing masks. The police have thus tightened their grip, and have collected a fine of over Rs 25 lakhs in the process. The strict action will continue in the coming days, Pune police have maintained.
