Accordingly, 550 to 600 phone calls are being received every day. On average, 15,000 calls are received per month. Priority has been given to providing help on time. Within eight minutes of citizens dialling 112 at the police control room, beat marshals rush to help.

Phone calls were being accepted at police control rooms in various parts of Maharashtra. However, the police couldn’t respond immediately to serve the citizens during the crisis. It was difficult to quickly locate the caller. As a result, there was a challenge for the police to deliver help to the citizens in time. Against this backdrop, priority was given by the government to provide a single helpline at the state level. 112 number was fixed to provide response time and other facilities in time. Of that, a policy was decided to send timely help to the complainant in difficulty. Accordingly, the response to the 112 number helpline has now increased in the Pune Police Commissionerate. The 112 system was successfully implemented by Additional Commissioner of Police Jalinder Supekar under the guidance of Police Commissioner Retesh Kumaarr and Joint Commissioner Sandeep Karnik.

After the complainant dials 100 or 112, the phone goes to Navi Mumbai or Nagpur control room. There the phone calls are sent to the concerned district or police control room after recording the information of the complainant, location and other incidents. Accordingly, the nearest beat marshal goes to the spot and helps the complainant. In particular, mobile data terminals have been installed. Hence, the location is easier to find and help reaches on time.

More than 500 employees in Pune have been trained to solve the problem of the complainants who have reached the dial 112 number. Apart from that, 51 cars and 107 two-wheelers have been fitted with dial 112 devices to get information through electronic devices. Accordingly, the location of the concerned has been immediately obtained and the speed of assistance has been increased. It has benefited in response time.

“Beat Marshals assist the complainant by reaching the spot through dial 112 number. As the location of the complainants is obtained through the electronic devices on the vehicles, assistance is provided to the callers within eight to eight and a half minutes. Citizens should use the helpline in case of emergency,” said Retesh Kumaarr, Commissioner of Police, Pune City.
