Kothrud, 9th October 2025: Citizens of Kothrud have expressed strong dissatisfaction after asphalting work in front of the Paramhansnagar Chowk bus stand led to unsafe road conditions. The asphalt and gravel, reportedly of poor quality, scattered across the road, causing an accident in which two young women were injured when their bike skidded on the gravel.

Local residents blame the Municipal Corporation’s road department for negligence in road repair and pothole-filling work. Many argue that the repairs often deteriorate within days, rendering taxpayers’ money wasted.

Advocate Amol Kale, a Kothrud resident, said the responsibility lies with contractors appointed via municipal tenders. “The contractor is expected to complete the work as per the contract and maintain quality standards. However, pothole repairs and road asphalting have become substandard. Strict legal action should be taken against the contractor and officials involved,” he said.

Citizens are also demanding greater transparency. They have called for civil hearings at the local level, where the Municipal Corporation should present details of expenditure and work completed. Many feel that criminal cases should be registered against officers and contractors found guilty of negligence.
