Pune: Post Office Introduces Special Service For Quick Delivery Of Parcels
Pune, 5th December 2022: If a large or heavy item is to be sent abroad, it costs more money through courier. Customers also worry about the parcel’s safety. To reduce the cost and worry of sending parcels, the Post Office has introduced a special service.
The Department of Posts has launched the Parcel Pack service. This facility is available at Laxmi Road Post Office (City Post), Pune Head Post Office (GPO) at Sadhu Vaswani Chowk, and Chinchwad East Post Office at nominal rates.
The postal department staff will do the packing at a nominal cost only after the customer brings the items to be sent for their parcel. Small, medium and large-size carton boxes, other materials and parcel packing machines have been made available in the post office for packing.
7,335 customers have availed of this service since April. All three packing centres have received positive reviews. However, many citizens do not know much about this service.
A 24-hour parcel booking facility along with speed post, register post at the post office window near platform number one near Pune railway station has also started this month. In the current financial year, 53,667 customers have availed of speed post, 22 customers parcels and 53,703 customers have availed of register post services at this centre. SMS is sent at every level from the time the parcel is booked by the postal department till it is delivered to the right place. At the same time, the tracking of the sent parcel can be done on the internet and also on the Post Office Info mobile app.
