Pune: Rs 4,500 Pending Aid Under ‘Ladki Bahin’ Scheme to Be Released Soon, Says Deputy CM Eknath Shinde
Junnar, 5th February 2026: In a major relief for thousands of women across Maharashtra, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has announced that beneficiaries of the state’s “Ladki Bahin” welfare scheme who faced payment delays due to e-KYC verification errors will soon receive their pending assistance. A total of Rs 4,500, covering three months of dues, will be credited to eligible women after verification.
Shinde announced during a public meeting in Junnar held as part of local election campaigning. Emphasizing the government’s commitment to women’s welfare, he said that no eligible beneficiary should be deprived of financial assistance due to procedural hurdles.
Three Months’ Dues to Be Credited Together:
Women whose installments for November, December, and January were held back due to discrepancies in e-KYC documentation will receive the combined payment once their eligibility is confirmed, Shinde said.
Describing the scheme as a women-centric empowerment initiative, he noted that it was designed to help women become financially self-reliant. He also reiterated an earlier assurance that the financial assistance per installment would be increased to ₹2,100 in the near future.
Anganwadi Workers Conducting Verification:
Officials clarified that payments had been paused after documentation mismatches surfaced during the e-KYC process. To resolve the issue, Anganwadi workers have started on-ground verification of beneficiaries. Women cleared during this process will receive the pending installments in a lump sum.
The delay had sparked dissatisfaction and protests among several beneficiaries, who had been demanding the immediate release of their dues.
During his address, Shinde also referred to farmer welfare initiatives launched during his tenure as Chief Minister. He said farmers have a rightful claim to government resources and mentioned that a committee has been formed to study farm loan waiver measures, with action to follow once its report is submitted.
He further responded to criticism from political opponents regarding the Ladki Bahin scheme, asserting that the government would continue implementing welfare programmes despite opposition.
