Pune: Savitribai Phule Memorial To Be Made At Bhide Wada

Pune, 21st December 2022: Today, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis reviewed the construction of a national memorial to Savitribai Phule at Bhide Wada in Pune.

In this regard, Chief Minister Shinde directed that Pune District Collector and Pune Municipal Commissioner will hold a meeting with the tenants of Bhide Wada in Pune and submit the final report within a week.

During the winter session of the Legislative Assembly yesterday, while making a statement on the issue raised by member Chhagan Bhujbal, the Chief Minister said that a meeting will be held regarding the memorial. Accordingly, a meeting was held today in the Council of Ministers Hall of the Legislature in Nagpur.

On this occasion, Other Backward Classes and Bahujan Development Minister Atul Save, MLA Bhujbal, Additional Chief Secretary Finance Department Manoj Saunik, Principal Secretary Rajgopal Deora, Principal Secretary Urban Development Department Sonia Sethi, Secretary Cultural Affairs Department Saurabh Vijay were present, while Pune Collector Rajesh Deshmukh, Municipal Commissioner Vikram Kumar participated through the online mode.

On this occasion, MLA Bhujbal, in his introduction, made suggestions about starting a girls’ school and including it in the memorial.

The priority of making a national memorial to Savitribai Phule is the highest, and the Collector and the Municipal Commissioner should hold a meeting with the residents of Bhide Wada to get the work of the memorial started. At this time, the Chief Minister directed that their report should be submitted within a week. He also said that efforts should be made to complete the work of the memorial within the time limit.
