Pune, 14th July 2025: The second phase of admissions for First-Year Junior College (FYJC) in Maharashtra is set to begin on Monday, with nearly 7 lakh students vying for seats in Class XI across the state. According to officials, the merit list, selection list, and cut-off marks for this round will be published on July 17.

Mahesh Palkar, Director of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, stated that as of Saturday, approximately 1.3 lakh students had newly registered for FYJC admissions, while 5.4 lakh students who participated in the first round have now submitted their revised preferences in the second part of the application.

This year’s admission process is being conducted entirely online through a centralised system managed by the state education department. So far, more than 13.8 lakh students have registered for admissions—comprising around 6.6 lakh girls and 7.2 lakh boys.

In Pune district alone, 62,812 students were allotted seats in the first round of centralised admissions. This was against the total availability of over 2.01 lakh seats in junior colleges. Of those allotted, more than 45,000 students confirmed their admissions within the designated timeline.

The window for confirming admissions in the second round will be open from July 18 to July 21. The education department will display the number of vacant seats on July 23, enabling students who missed out earlier to plan for subsequent rounds.

Officials advise students and parents to carefully check the official portal for updates and adhere strictly to the schedule to avoid missing out on seat allotments.
