Pune, 3rd April 2024: Now is the opportune moment for English medium schools, including prestigious institutions, to actively engage in convincing parents who had previously waited for admission opportunities elsewhere. Traditionally, the admission process for pre-primary and first-year students in private schools concludes in December or January. However, this year, many English schools are still in the midst of their admission process, prompting the need for effective social media advertising campaigns to attract students.

In recent years, the city has witnessed the establishment of nine private English medium schools across various neighbourhoods. These institutions span across different educational boards, including state boards, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), and others, catering to students from pre-primary to 10th and 12th grades. While admission processes typically wrap up by November-December-January, this year’s cycle has extended into March and beyond. While traditional mediums such as hoardings and brochures have been utilized by some schools in the past, there is now a notable shift towards leveraging social media platforms.

With a significant rise in the number of private English schools, competition for student enrollment has intensified. Consequently, schools are turning to social media as a means to attract targeted parents through direct advertising. These advertisements primarily highlight the school’s facilities, activities, and unique offerings. Notably, renowned schools across various parts of the city, as well as educational groups managing multiple institutions, are actively investing in social media marketing. Traditional methods like boards and brochures are becoming obsolete in light of this trend.

As private schools operate as businesses, the proliferation of school options has heightened competition, necessitating proactive advertising efforts. Some schools have even expanded their presence by establishing branches in suburban areas. Jagruti Dharmadhikari, Vice President of the Independent English Schools Association (IESA), acknowledges that in this competitive landscape, securing student enrollment has become imperative for schools.
