Pimpri Chinchwad, 19th February 2025: A violent altercation involving delivery personnel in Pimpri Chinchwad has resulted in a formal case being registered with the local police. Six individuals have been named as accused, along with other unidentified persons, following an incident that escalated from a dispute between two Blinkit delivery workers.
The complaint was filed by Juber Salim Shaikh, an 18-year-old resident of Morwadi, at the Sant Tukaram Nagar Police Station. According to police reports, the initial confrontation occurred on 17th February at 11:40 PM near the Blinkit Store in Samrat Chowk, Morwadi.
Shaikh and his colleague, Akshat Gagade, reportedly advised a new delivery worker, Tanjim Syed, against making late-night deliveries. This led to a verbal dispute that quickly turned physical, with Syed allegedly grabbing Shaikh’s collar. The situation momentarily de-escalated when Shaikh’s friend, Gagade, intervened and slapped Syed to make him stop.
However, approximately an hour later, at around 12:30 AM on 18th February, Syed returned with a group of more than 10 people. The mob allegedly attacked Shaikh and Gagade on the road outside the Blinkit Store, using punches, kicks, and sticks.
The police report says that the assailants threatened local residents, claiming to be influential figures in the area. Fearing for their safety, many residents locked themselves indoors. One resident captured the incident on video from an elevated position, which has since gone viral on social media.
The case has been registered against Munir Syed, Tanjim Syed, Kasim Jamadar, Wajahatullah Syed, Nadeem Syed, Mubarak Syed, Rama, and others. Assistant Commissioner of Police (Pimpri Division) Sachin Hire and Senior Police Inspector Gorakh Kumbhar visited the scene following the incident.
