Pune: Symbiosis To Host Youth 20 (Y20) Consultation Under G20 Presidency of India
Pune, 08 March 2023: Symbiosis International (Deemed University) will host a Youth 20 (Y20) Consultation under the G20 Presidency of India and supported by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India on 10th and 11th March 2023 at Symbiosis International University’s Campus at Lavale, Pune.
The Y20 Consultation is a unique opportunity to invite the youth from India and other G20 countries to discuss and offer constructive policy inputs while they utilize the Y20 platform to voice their opinions for a global audience. The theme for our Y20 Consultation is ‘Peacebuilding and Reconciliation: Ushering in an Era of No War- the philosophy of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’. The 6 sub themes of the consultation are ‘Vikas politics’ in India as an enabler in conflict resolution, Climate Action, Gender-related conflict and reforms, Education Reforms, Legal Reforms needed for Social Change, and the Future of Work.
The Inaugural Ceremony will take place on Saturday, 11 March 2023 at 11:45 AM. Anurag Thakur, Union Minister for Information & Broadcasting, and Youth Affairs & Sports, Govt. of India is the Chief Guest and Dr. Sundeep Waslekar, President, Strategic Foresight Group will be the Keynote Speaker for the Inaugural Ceremony.
There will be a cultural program hosted by Indian and international students, a Symbiosis Kala Gruha showcasing local artists and a model village to showcase Indian handicrafts, a display of products created by local NGOs and artisans on 10 March at SIU Campus, Lavale.
Build up events including Poster Competition, Essay Competition, Poetry Competition, Photography Competition, Debate Competition, MUN Competition on topics of Women Empowerment, Disaster and Crisis Management, Green Development and Climate, etc. are being conducted.
Y20 is a prestigious event under the G20 Presidency organized by the host country every year and is an official consultation forum for youth from all G20 member countries to be able to raise awareness of global issues, exchange ideas, argue, negotiate, and reach consensus.
The audience shall comprise young delegates, winners from competitions, invitees and students from India and G20 countries. Through these deliberations SIU hopes to inspire young minds thus fostering international cooperation and understanding not only through the creation of new knowledge, development of 21st century skills, and research and innovation to solve the many challenges our planet and humanity faces, but also to shape a new paradigm of human- centric globalization.
The speakers for this Consultation are international and national youth who have done exemplary work in the field of gender equity, human rights advocacy, and representation on the UNESCO SDG4 Youth Network for transforming education, youth dedicated to building communities through democratic leadership, legal reforms towards peacebuilding, etc. The theme Future of Work will focus on Industry 4.0, 21-Century skills focusing on technological advancements, their benefits and the many challenges for the future.
