Pune: Tamhini Ghat Receives 112 MM Rain In Last 24 Hours, IMD Issues Yellow Alert For Today

Pune 10th Sept 2023: The ghat areas in the district have received a good rainfall in the last few hours as the IMD had predicted a heavy rain at isolated places on Saturday. According to the IMD data, Tamhini Ghat has recorded 122 mm rain in the last 24 hours while Bhor has recorded 81 mm rain, Mawal recorded 56 mm and Lonavala has received 73 mm rain.

 

Several areas in the city have also recorded a good rainfall on Saturday after a long dry spell. According to IMD, 24.2 mm rain was recorded in Koregaon Park area while 24.1 mm rain was recorded in Magarpatta and 22.8 mm rain was recorded in Shivajinagar in the last 24 hours. The average rainfall recorded in other areas of the city was also reported to be above 20 mm during this period.

 

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for the ghat areas in Pune district for today. According to IMD, ‘heavy rainfall at isolated places in ghat areas’ is likely to be reported in the district on September 10. It may be noted that despite the district receiving good rainfall over the last two days, the water storage in the dams has not seen an increase as the accumulative storage in the Khadakwasla cluster was reported 93.75% (27.33 TMC) compared to 99.77% (29.08 TMC) reported on the same day last year.
