Baramati, 25th June 2025: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested a vice principal from a government-run industrial training institute while accepting a bribe of ₹40,000. The arrest was made during a trap laid at Hotel City Inn in Baramati on June 24.

The accused has been identified as Avadhoot Bhimaji Jadhwar (53), currently serving as Vice Principal and holding additional charge as Principal at Anantrao Pawar Government Industrial Training Institute, Malegaon (Baramati).

Bribe Demanded for Appointing Exam Supervisor
According to ACB officials, the complainant in the case is the chairman of a private paramedical institute, where 45 students were appearing for examinations. A request had been made to the concerned government ITI to appoint a government supervisor for the exam process.

Jadhwar allegedly demanded a bribe of ₹90,000 — ₹2,000 per student — for assigning the supervisor, and had already accepted ₹10,000 as an advance. Following the payment, the supervisor was appointed and the exam began. However, Jadhwar allegedly continued to pressure the complainant for the remaining ₹80,000.

ACB Trap and Arrest
Unable to bear the mounting pressure, the complainant approached the Pune office of the Anti-Corruption Bureau on June 23. During the preliminary inquiry, it was confirmed that the bribe amount had been negotiated down to ₹40,000.

Acting swiftly, the ACB laid a trap the next day. As Jadhwar accepted ₹40,000 in marked currency at Hotel City Inn, he was caught red-handed in the presence of official witnesses (panchas).

Legal Action Underway
A case has been registered against Jadhwar under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act at the Baramati Taluka Police Station (Pune Rural).
This action was carried out under the guidance of Pune Range ACB Superintendent Shirish Sardeshpande and Additional Superintendent of Police Dr. Sheetal Janve.
