Mumbai – Shiv Sena has begun a new debate on the demand for Mumbai development plan for the next 16 years to give Rs 14.6 lakh crores and a separate committee for its implementation. It is being said that Shiv Sena will take credit it this is done.

Shiv Sena has demanded this in the face of elections. If you get funding then take credit yourself and if you do not get funds criticize the center. According to political observers, Shiv Sena has demanded to kill two birds in one stone like this.

Currently, the corporation does not have any money for development works. Therefore, the BMC has no other option but to break the deposit of Rs 67,000 crores. Due to the GST implementation, the municipality had to loose Rs 7,500 crores every year. Therefore, for the implementation of the development plan, the central government should provide 14 lakh 60 thousand crore rupees as special funds. Shiv Sena has asked the Center to appoint an independent committee to utilize the funds. There is a possibility of a new political divide in Shiv Sena-BJP if the demand is not met and center does not intervene before the upcoming elections.

Shiv Sena MP Rahul Shewale said that we have corresponded with Prime Minister Narendra Modi for setting up an independent committee to provide special development funds to Mumbai.

‘Mumbai Development Plan 2034’ will be implemented from November 2018; The BMC has no choice but to depend on the central government for the implementation of the plan due to paucity of funds in its kitty. Apart from funding from GST, Shiv Sena is also insisting on getting the maximum support from the Center.
