Pune, June 4, 2020: Helping Solapur Deputy Mayor Rajesh Kale has cost the Sangvi police dearly. Police Sub Inspector (PSI) Ravindra Panhale has been suspended and Senior Police Inspector Dnyaneshwar Sable, in-charge of the police station, has been attached to the control room, said Additional Commissioner of Police Ramnath Pokale. The two officers were found guilty in a prima facie inquiry and will be further investigated.

Sangvi police station under the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate had detained Solapur Deputy Mayor Rajesh Kale from his residence in connection with a cheating and fraud case. As soon as he was brought to the Sangvi police station, he started sneezing and coughing and was released on medical notice fearing Coronavirus, said Sub-Inspector Panhale.

However, as the role of Sangvi police was found suspicious, Additional Commissioner of Police Ramnath Pokale had ordered an inquiry into the matter. According to the department, both the investigating officer and the senior police inspector have been found guilty and Commissioner Sandeep Bishnoi has taken action against them.

What exactly is the case?

BJP’s Deputy Mayor of Solapur Rajesh Dilip Kale was detained by Sangvi police on Friday. A case of fraud has been registered against him at Sangvi police station. Nita Suresh Lotte, the then bank manager of a bank, has also been charged with fraud in the case. Sindhu Subhash Chavan has filed a complaint in this regard. Kale and his accomplices sold a flat to several people and committed financial fraud. Sangvi police team had reached Solapur on Friday evening and detained Deputy Mayor Rajesh Kale with the help of Bijapur Naka police.

He was brought to the Sangvi police station. However, he was released the next day after he was found ‘sneezing’ and ‘coughing’. As a result, the investigating officer and senior officers came under the scanner and an inquiry was ordered against them.
