Pune, February 8, 2021: After the Maharashtra state government granted permission to reopen colleges from 15th February, the University Grant Commission (UGC) has now issued guidelines to reopen the colleges in a phase-wise manner to prevent crowding.

According to the guideline given by the state education department, colleges have started to prepare for reopening the colleges with 50% attendance. Similarly, UGC also provided guidelines in which it said that colleges should not call all students at the same time, instead they should plan for the phase-wise opening of colleges. Priority should be given to those who have to attend practical classes, students from last year of courses, science and those courses which have practical studies should be given priorities. Also instead of organising big classes, one has to divide it into small sections and call the students accordingly.

As of now, decisions for hostels are not taken yet. Permission for room sharing is not given, however, if a student submitted a negative COVID19 test report and has good health condition then he/she can be given admission for the hostel, said an official.
