What Are The Options Before Class 12th Students? Maharashtra Govt Yet To Decide

Pune, 27th May 2021: As the clock is ticking fast, parents and students of the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) Board are under tremendous pressure as the Maharashtra government is yet to decide as to how to conduct the examination.

Against the backdrop of Covid-19, Secondary School Certificate (SSC) Board standard 10th examination was cancelled, however, the HSC exam was postponed. Since it is not possible to cancel the HSC examination, the State is grappling with the options as to how to conduct it. This has created confusion among parents and students as students who want to appear for other competitive exams could not prepare for it.

As many as 13,17,983 students will be appearing for the HSC examination conducted by the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education. Experts have suggested various options to conduct the exam. Students too have communicated to conduct the examination online and of fewer marks.

Experts’ opinion 

Education expert Vasant Kalpande said, “The option to conduct only one examination for all subjects on the path of NEET or JEE.”

Retired Secondary Education director NK Jarag said, “It is imperative to conduct HSC examinations. It is up to the State Board to decide the medium and way to conduct it.”

Kishore Dhamale, a student said, “Like scholarship examination, the State Board should conduct HSC examination with one exam for all subjects.”
