CM Fadnavis Approves Rs 1,209 Crore Sewerage Projects for Pune Metropolitan Region
Nagpur, 11th December 2025: The Maharashtra government has granted revised administrative approval for sewerage projects worth ₹1,209.08 crore across 27 villages in the Pune Metropolitan Region (PMR), Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced during the 13th meeting of the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) on Thursday. The projects are expected to benefit nearly 39.42 lakh residents.
Presiding over the meeting at Vidhan Bhavan, Fadnavis said the approved works form a crucial part of urban infrastructure development in key growth centres of the PMR. He also directed officials to prepare a comprehensive ‘Fire Prevention Action Plan’ for Pune city, making effective use of the ₹300 crore currently available with PMRDA from fire service charges.
Fire Safety and River Rejuvenation Prioritised
Fadnavis emphasised the need to strengthen fire safety mechanisms across the metropolitan region. “Funds collected towards fire service charges must be used effectively for implementing fire prevention measures,” he said.
He further stressed river rejuvenation and pollution control for the Mula, Mutha, Pavana, and Indrayani rivers, directing authorities to ensure that no untreated or polluted water flows into these water bodies.
Steps to Reduce Accidents at Navale Bridge
Highlighting the high number of accidents near Navale Bridge, the Chief Minister instructed authorities to begin work on service roads along National Highway 48 and National Highway 548-DD. He also asked that additional alternatives—including construction of new service roads near the bridge—be explored to minimise accidents. Fadnavis urged close coordination between all departments concerned.
He further directed PMRDA to examine the feasibility of transferring a facility plot under its jurisdiction to the Pune Zilla Parishad, subject to a review of development requirements.
Push for Metro Line-3 Completion
Reviewing ongoing transport infrastructure projects, Fadnavis said the Maan–Hinjawadi–Shivajinagar Metro Line 3 must be completed within the stipulated timeline, and instructed officials to ensure the line becomes operational for commuters as planned.
Key Officials Attend High-Level Meeting
Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, Chief Secretary Rajesh Aggarwal, Additional Chief Secretaries O. P. Gupta and Aseem Kumar Gupta, and Metropolitan Commissioner Yogesh Mhase were present for the meeting.
