Accident Claims Two Lives on Mumbai-Pune Highway Near Lonavala

Lonavala, 30th April 2024: Two individuals lost their lives in a fatal overturn accident near Takve village during the late hours of Sunday. The mishap also left three others severely injured, currently undergoing treatment at a nearby hospital.

The deceased have been identified as Baban Raghu Sutar (50), a resident of Mhalskar Colony, Vadgaon Maval, and Aryan Dnyaneshwar Bhalekar (10), hailing from Jadhavwadi, Navalakh Umbre. Meanwhile, the injured victims, Mayur Dnyaneshwar Pandit (26), Praveen Nagu Lohar (34), and Ratnesh Babasaheb Sonwane (21), residents of Malwali and Bhaje respectively, are receiving medical care.

An official case has been registered against motorist Praveen Nagu Lohar (34) from Malvali, following a complaint filed by Mayur Pandit at the Lonavla Rural Police Station.

The incident took place on Sunday around midnight, as the vehicle was en route from the bypass towards Pune. Near Takve village, the driver, Lohar, reportedly lost control of the motor, resulting in its plunge into a nearby ditch. Sustaining critical head injuries in the accident, Sutar and Bhalekar were rushed to a private hospital, where Sutar succumbed to his injuries before receiving medical attention.

Police Sub-Inspector Bharat Bhosale is conducting further investigation into the matter.
