Coronavirus COVID19: Magarpatta City Tower evacuated after employee tested positive

Pune, March 11, 2020: A portion of Tower 7 in Magarpatta City, Hadapsar, was evacuated and sealed after an employee of an IT company, who has returned from visit to Dubai, was suspected to have some symptoms of Coronavirus.

The company has asked all employees to work from home. The company is located on Level 4 in Tower 7. There are many companies located in Tower 7.

In a message sent to all the employees, the company stated, “The employee has been quarantined and being provided medical facilities. As a precautionary step, the office on Magarpatta City will remain closed. No employee should visit the office. There will be deep cleaning in office. Also we are in contact with concerned authorities to know if more employees need to undergo tests.”

When contacted, Satish Magar, the chairman & managing director of the Magarpatta City township, told Punekarnews.in, “As a precautionary the area where company is located has been sealed.”

He further added, “We have called doctors from Noble Hospital for meeting regarding further precautions to be taken.”

Magarpatta City is a 450 acre, privately owned gated community in the Hadapsar area of Pune. It has a commercial area, residential area, hospital with several specialisations, shopping malls, restaurants, a gym, Aditi Garden (a 25-acre park) and schools. 30% of the area is made up of green space. There is a commercial complex named “Destination Centre” located herein.

In Pune, already five persons have tested positive for Coronavirus and they are undergoing treatment at Naidu Hospital.

Yesterday, Maharashtra health minister Rajesh Tope said, “A couple from Pune was found Corona positive. They had returned from Dubai on March 1. The daughter of these patients, the cab driver who ferried them from Mumbai to Pune and one co- passengers of the Airbus were found infected by the Corona. This takes the figure of the Corona positive patients to five in Pune. They are being quarantined and treatment is on. The test reports of 289 out of 309 persons were found negative for Corona.”
