High quality education to everyone to prevent inequality in the society : Manish Sisodia

Pune: 6/03/2020: Higher education in our country is facing challenges today like never before. Rapidly changing technology and rise in cost of education these two things have increased the extensions of higher education program. We need to make a collective commitment to the youth of our nation that the society will offer high quality education to all the sections of the society and will not restrict to a certain class to prevent an inequality in the society, said  Manish Sisodia Deputy Chief Minister, Delhi.

He was invited as the guest of honour for4th International Conference on ‘Transcending National Boundaries-Diversity & Inclusion: Critical for Effective Internationalization’ jointly organized bySymbiosis International (Deemed University) (SIU) and the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) at Symbiosis International (Deemed University), Lavale, Pune. This is the fourth international IHE conference

“There is an urgent need to change the track to rediscover the purpose of education. Partnerships with the global universities in terms of research are much needed. Similarly, Indian tradition of learning have much to offer in terms connecting education for the human condition and ensuring that our universities are successful in guiding young people in their journey towards becoming responsible global citizens who commit to solve some of communities’ present problems”, Manish Sisodia added further his speech.

The Chief Guest on the occasion, Dr. D.P. Singh, Chairman; University Grants Commission, in his speech said that, “In our country higher education is facing many challenges like cultural swifts, technological disruptions, rise in cost of delivering quality education along with rising student’s expectations all this has changed the way higher education used to work earlier”.

With the 4th Industrial revolution our Universities need to change at a pace which is unfamiliar to the higher education and our institutions must meet the challenges of digital revolution and play an increasingly important role in our innovation ecosystems and economies through internationalization, Dr. D.P. Singh added further.

Prof. (Dr.) Manikrao M. Salunkhe, the AIU President in his speech talked about the Internationalization of Higher Education”. He said that,” Symbiosis is known for Internationalization, it is a home away from home for foreign students. During the Vice- Chancellors meet arranged by AIU several MOU’s are signed, new initiatives are taken and efforts are made to attract more foreign students to India”, Dr. Salunke added further.

Prof. Yusara Mouzughi Vice Chancellor, Muscat University, talked about India and Oman sharing a long relationship in terms of history, cultural diversity and more recently the diplomatic links as well. Speaking about the theme of this conference Diversity and Inclusion, Prof. Yusara Mouzughi mentioned, “The theme is applicable to me and I have personally experienced it in my life. I was at the receiving end; I was included to work in a diverse environment”.

Dr. S.B. Mujumdar, Founder and President of Symbiosis in his speech talked about a new thought called “Talentism”. He said that human talent is more important than capital for any organisation. Talentism is – Creativity, Ability to Innovate and Culture. Going forward, these are the keywords for the 21st century. Industries cannot afford to ignore human talent. Universities in our country must think of how to produce and promote talent and how talent can be embraced.
