Hyundai Xtra Hits 100,000 Bookings, Dominating Sub-Compact SUV Market.

30th November 2023: This year, Hyundai entered the Indian market with its sub-compact SUV, the Hyundai Xtra, reaching a notable milestone of 100,000 units booked. Positioned as a competitor to models like the Tata Punch, the Xtra stands out in the segment with an array of features. Launched in July 2023 at a starting price of Rs 6 lakh, the SUV steadily gained traction, hitting the 50,000 unit mark in August 2023, 70,000 units in October 2023, and now achieving the significant milestone of 100,000 units.

The Hyundai Xtra is available in four variants in India: EX, S, SX, SX(O), and SX(O)CONNECT, offering customers a choice among seven vibrant colors, including options like Ranger Khaki with Abyss Black Roof, Atlas White with Abyss Black, Ranger Khaki, Starry Night, Fiery Red, Atlas White, and Titan Grey. A versatile 5-seater with 391 liters of boot space, the Xtra combines practicality with style.

Boasting an impressive feature set, the Xtra incorporates a semi-digital instrument cluster, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, cruise control, automatic one-touch control, wireless mobile charging, a single-pane sunroof, ambient lighting, rain-sensing wipers, and a unique dual dashcam – a rarity in its price range. Safety features include six airbags, electronic stability control, tire pressure monitoring system, ABS with EBD, hill hold assist, rear parking sensors with a camera, and ISOFIX child seat anchors. Additionally, all passengers are covered with a 3-point seat belt reminder.

Under the hood, the Xtra is powered by a 1.2-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 83 bhp and 114 Nm of torque. Transmission options include 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT, while the CNG variant offers a slightly reduced output of 69 bhp and 95 Nm with a 5-speed manual transmission. Hyundai claims impressive fuel efficiency, with the manual gearbox achieving 19.4 kmpl, the AMT transmission at 19.2 kmpl, and the CNG version providing a range of 27.1 km.

In the competitive landscape, the Hyundai Xtra goes head-to-head with rivals such as Tata Punch, Maruti Ignis, Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger, Citroen C3, and Maruti Fronx. Looking ahead, Hyundai is set to introduce several exciting models in the new year, including the Hyundai Creta Facelift, Hyundai Verna N Line, and Hyundai Alcazar.
