Maharashtra government opens new bank account for ‘CSR’ Funds

Mumbai, 21/04/2020: The Maharashtra government is doing its best to prevent the outbreak of the Corona virus. Funds are being raised to support these efforts of the government. For this purpose the government has opened an independent bank account under the name “Maharashtra State Disaster Management Authority” and Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has appealed to entrepreneurs and businessmen to contribute generously to the fund from the Corporate Social Responsibility Funds (CSR).

Epidemic outbreak appears to have impacted the entire world. There are serious challenges to the health and financial security of millions of people around the world. The Government of Maharashtra is receiving numberless requests for help in such a challenging situation. In view of this request, the Government of Maharashtra has opened an independent bank account under the name “Maharashtra State Disaster Management Authority” at the State Bank of India, Colaba, Mumbai.
This fund will definitely be useful for the state to deal with the disaster effectively. The Chief Minister has appealed to the corporate world to deposit a huge amount of funds in this account from the Corporate Social Responsibility Fund. Funds deposited in this account are eligible for CSR as per the provisions of the Companies Act, 2013.
