Pune, 6th May 2022: Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) President Raj Thackeray has appealed his party workers to continue the agitation until the loudspeakers are removed from the mosques. Therefore, activists have started agitation in the district for Maha-Aarti, playing Hanuman Chalisa in front of the mosques.

Now, MNS has issued a letter to the Commissioner of Police stating that “Considering our demands, Pune Police should give their response including the statement of Maulvi, otherwise we will recite Hanuman Chalisa in front of the police station.”

Thackeray has taken a stand that the agitation that has started over the noise of mosques due to the involvement of speakers and implementation of the order of the Supreme Court will continue.

A letter issued by MNS states, “Loudspeakers are a social issue and we do not want to create a religious rift. But we cannot deviate from our position and that is why Maharashtra Navnirman Sena demands from this statement that there are approximately 400 to 450 mosques in the entire city of Pune. There are loudspeakers on almost all the mosques, which are unauthorised. The loudspeakers should be removed or they should be kept permanently closed so that the citizens living nearby will not be bothered by the loud noise coming out of it.”

“We are not against  azaan (call for prayers) but we are adamant that it should not be done by loudspeakers. Also, the Maulvi of all these mosques should inform us through a written report with the help of police as law and order should not be disturbed. A report should convey the message that the azaan will not be played from mosques,” the letter stated further.

“If the testimony is given in this manner, there will be no question of religious or social rift and the Maulvi will abide by the law along with us,” Raj Thackeray informed through a letter.

Therefore, this demand should be immediately considered and such testimony should be given by the Maulavi through the mediation of the police. “Otherwise as the next step of the agitation, we have to play Hanuman Chalisa in front of our police station,” Thackeray warned.
