Nashik, 9th May 2026: The Nashik-Trimbakeshwar Kumbh Mela Authority (NTKMA) has rolled out a comprehensive and tightly coordinated health infrastructure plan for Simhastha Kumbh 2027, covering Nashik and Trimbakeshwar. The framework integrates expanded hospital capacity, onsite ICUs at ghats, distributed OPDs, and a relay-based ambulance system to ensure timely medical access across all key pilgrim zones.

In Nashik, total bed capacity will increase from 1,305 to 1,945, including 185 ICU beds, with 640 additional beds being created through temporary facilities. A 100-bed hospital at Tapovan and a 10-bed facility at Nandur (Sadhugram) are part of the augmentation. Onsite ICUs will be deployed on both sides of all 13 ghats, while OPDs will function at 21 locations and hospitals and medical units will be operational across 19 locations, including parking areas.

The city’s existing healthcare ecosystem—621 private hospitals with 12,802 beds and five medical colleges with 1,275 beds—will act as reserve capacity. Ambulance strength will be significantly scaled up, with 25 new vehicles and 73 on rent, operating through a relay system for faster patient transfer.

In Trimbakeshwar, bed capacity will expand from 50 to 120, including 27 ICU beds, with 70 additional beds planned through temporary setups. Further, four new hospitals with a proposed capacity of 400 beds are in the pipeline. During the Mela, 25 temporary 3-bed hospitals will operate for three months across key locations, with onsite ICUs activated on Parvani days. Ambulance services will be strengthened with 25 new and 16 rented ambulances, also functioning on a relay model.

Medical staffing across both locations will include specialists, MBBS and BAMS doctors, nurses, pharmacists, ANMs, and support staff, ensuring uninterrupted services for both pilgrims and local residents.

“Healthcare access at every touchpoint—from ghats to parking to Sadhugram—is central to our planning. The focus is on response time, coverage, and reliability at scale,” said NTKMA Commissioner Shekhar Singh.

Nashik Municipal Corporation Commissioner Manisha Khatri said, “The city’s public health system is being reinforced with temporary capacity and decentralized facilities so that no zone remains under-served during peak footfall.”

District Civil Surgeon Dr Satish Shimpi stated, “We are aligning manpower, equipment, and emergency protocols to ensure seamless coordination across facilities and quick medical response during high-density days.”

The health plan is designed to operate in parallel with routine services, ensuring that healthcare delivery for local residents remains unaffected during the Mela period.
