Pune, 21st July 2023: In a commendable effort to ensure the safety and well-being of children, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Central Railway has successfully rescued 408 children during the period of April to June 2023 under their initiative “Operation Nanhe Farishte”. The RPF, in coordination with Govt. Railway Police and other frontline railway staff, conducted this rescue mission to protect children found wandering on railway station platforms across Central Railway.

 

According to the official data released, a total of 408 children were rescued, comprising 318 boys and 90 girls. These children, who often arrived at railway stations without informing their families due to various reasons such as family issues, disputes, or dreams of a better life in the city, were identified and approached by highly trained RPF personnel.

 

The Pune Division of Central Railway emerged as the frontrunner in this noble endeavor, rescuing a remarkable 138 children, all of whom were boys. The Mumbai Division closely followed with the successful rescue of 92 children (58 boys and 34 girls). Bhusaval Division contributed significantly to the cause, rescuing 119 children, including 94 boys and 25 girls.

 

 

The Nagpur Division, Solapur Division, and various NGOs like Childline played a vital role in this mission, collectively rescuing 59 children. Nagpur Division rescued 40 children (21 boys and 19 girls), while Solapur Division successfully brought back 19 children (7 boys and 12 girls) to safety.

 

The rescued children were later reunited with their families with the sincere efforts and counseling provided by the trained RPF personnel. This heartwarming initiative has garnered immense gratitude and appreciation from the parents of these rescued children, who expressed their heartfelt thanks to the Railways for this noble service.

 

“Operation Nanhe Farishte” stands as a shining example of the Central Railway’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all passengers, especially vulnerable children found in distress on railway premises.
