Pune Gorakhpur Daily Special Train: Service Begins September 27 for Diwali Chhath Festival Season

Pune, 04th September 2025: Central Railway has announced the operation of a daily special train service between Pune and Gorakhpur to cater to increased passenger demand during the upcoming Puja, Diwali, and Chhath festivals.

The 01415/01416 Pune-Gorakhpur-Pune special train will commence operations from September 27, 2025, running for 65 days until December 1, 2025. Train 01415 will depart Pune daily at 6:50 AM, while the return service 01416 will leave Gorakhpur daily at 5:30 PM.

Route and Schedule

The special train will cover a distance of 1,743 kilometers with a running time of approximately 33 hours and 10 minutes in the Pune-Gorakhpur direction and 33 hours and 45 minutes on the return journey.

Key stations on the route include Daund (8:10 AM departure), Ahmednagar (9:30 AM), Kopargaon (11:28 AM), Manmad (1:10 PM), Bhusaval (3:55 PM), Khandwa (6:07 PM), Itarsi (9:10 PM), Bhopal (11:15 PM), Bina (1:25 AM), Virangana Lakshmibai Jhansi (4:00 AM), Kanpur Central (8:25 AM), and Lucknow (10:00 AM), before reaching Gorakhpur at 4:00 PM.

The return journey follows the same route in reverse, with Gorakhpur departure at 5:30 PM and Pune arrival at 3:15 AM.

Train Composition and Facilities

The special service will operate with an 18-coach ICF (Integral Coach Factory) rake, comprising 6 General Sleeper Class Non-AC coaches, 6 General Second Class coaches, 4 AC Chair Car coaches, and 2 Second Class Luggage-cum-Brake Van coaches.

Four rakes have been allocated for this service, with primary maintenance scheduled at Pune depot. The train will run on electric traction throughout its journey.

Operational Details

Central Railway has specified that the special train will operate at 1.3 times the normal fare structure. The service is designed to accommodate the surge in passenger traffic typically experienced during the major Hindu festivals of Durga Puja, Diwali, and Chhath Puja.

Railway authorities have issued instructions for strict adherence to COVID-19 protocols, including social distancing and sanitization measures at stations and on trains. Station managers have been directed to display train timings prominently and make regular announcements regarding the special service.

The coaching stock will undergo regular mechanical and electrical checks, cleaning, watering, and disinfection to ensure proper functioning of lights, fans, and water taps.

Central Railway has emphasized that divisional authorities will closely monitor the punctuality performance of this special train, with Train Inspectors and Loco Inspectors deputed to travel within their respective jurisdictions to ensure adherence to schedules.
