Pune: Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Launch ‘Jyeshthanuband’ App to Support Senior Citizens Living Alone

Pimpri-Chinchwad, 23rd June 2025: In a thoughtful step towards supporting elderly citizens living alone, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police has launched a dedicated mobile application called ‘Jyeshthanuband’, designed to provide 24/7 assistance to senior citizens in need.
The initiative, built on the theme “Respect for the Elderly, Respect for the Police”, aims to address the challenges faced by older individuals, especially those whose children live abroad or in other cities. From providing daily necessities like groceries and medicines to simply offering emotional support, the app seeks to bridge the growing gap of loneliness and physical dependence that many elderly residents face.
“Many senior citizens are alone and unsupported, especially in times of illness or emergencies. Their children may be far away, and loneliness becomes their daily companion. The ‘Jyeshthanuband’ app is our effort to stand by them—not just as law enforcers but as guardians,” the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police said in a statement.
According to Police Inspector Digambar Suryavanshi, local police stations have already reached out to senior citizens in their respective jurisdictions to inform them about the app. “So far, over 25,000 senior citizens have registered on the app. It’s available free of cost and operates round the clock,” he said.
The app is equipped with artificial intelligence to analyse requests and provide quick and accurate responses. It also features vital information such as nearby hospitals, ambulance contacts, and emergency helplines to ensure immediate assistance during crises.
Commissioner of Police Vinoy Kumar Choubey emphasized that a dedicated cell has been created at the Police Commissionerate to oversee the initiative. “Experienced officers have been assigned to respond promptly to senior citizens’ needs. Whether it’s delivering medicines or handling complaints, this cell will ensure every elderly person gets timely help,” he said. “Our goal is to create a system where all essential services for senior citizens are accessible in one place.”
The app marks a significant step toward community policing and shows how technology can be used to strengthen social care, especially for vulnerable sections like the elderly.
