Pune Police Commissioner Conducts First Weekly Meeting With Team, Discusses Various Measures

Pune, 22nd December 2022: Pune Police Commissioner Retesh Kumaarr has called the first weekly meeting (WRM) today after taking charge. Against this backdrop, all the officers in charge of police stations, police inspectors of the crime branch, assistant commissioners of police, and deputy commissioners of police were camped in their offices till late on Wednesday night.

According to the agreed outline of the meeting, information was collected for each point on the agenda.

The officer in charge of the police station made sure that he did not miss a single point for the meeting. Therefore some officials said they remembered the meeting during the previous Commissioner Dr K Venkatesham’s tenure. Venkatesham’s review meeting was highly detailed. Every officer was involved in the meeting. So every officer would prepare the notebook with details two or three days before the meeting.

Sources said that information has been sought for today’s meeting in the same way. Therefore, it seems that Police Commissioner Kumaarr has started the work at a quick pace. After assuming the charge, he started reviewing the Pune Police Commissionerate without meeting any officer personally. After that, the first review meeting is being held today.

Information regarding filing, analysis of open crimes, undetected serious crimes, pending crimes, absconding accused, preventive action conviction, sudden death cases, summons, and warrants were updated today. Meanwhile, while working as Additional Director General of Police in the Crime Investigation Department (CID), Kumaarr had also sent a letter to the Police Commissionerate, Superintendent of Police Offices regarding absconding and wanted to be accused of crimes and asked them to carry out a campaign in this regard.

Detailed information regarding the release of applications related to women, the Deputy Commissioner of Police’s visit to police stations and outposts, a personal investigation by the Senior Inspector of Police Assistant Commissioner, pending financial and cyber crimes, arrangements in the upcoming period and current situation following recruitment have been requested. The Deputy Commissioner of Police of each zone held a meeting with all the senior police inspectors in his office late on Wednesday night.

The Commissioner’s focus is on the following matters –

1) priority to deter criminals
2) effective action against criminals who commit crimes using weapons
3) immediate detection of street crime
4) remedial and preventive action
5) immediate detection of complaints by women and children
6) list of criminals with more than one crime
7) theft, burglary, robbery
8) traffic problem
9) action on towing vans
10) police presence at signals

To prevent chain theft and vandalism, organizing an effective blockade, in case of a law and order situation, the senior police inspector of Thane will immediately visit the spot and inform the seniors. Often, police officers are reluctant to file a case. So the citizens knock on the door of the Commissionerate. Policies for instant filing of crimes against women, cyber, street crime, chain snatching, extortion, extortion, moneylender, and loan apps, will be made.

Anti-drug operations will also be implemented more comprehensively. Schools, colleges, pubs, bars and online traffickers will be monitored and strict action will be taken. Police will take action to prevent noise pollution caused by roof-top hotels and pubs in residential areas at night and not disturb the citizens. Also, measures will be taken to maintain effective police patrolling at night.
