Pune: Slashing Of Fees Put Colleges In Difficult Situation
Pune, August 23, 2021: Several colleges under Savitribai Phule Pune University has in dilemma after the varsity took the decision of slashing of various fees charged by colleges under it.
Colleges said that they will now have to slow down on various other academic sessions owing to this fee cuts. Shikshan Prasarak Mandali president advt. S K Jain said, “we agree that the charges of the facilities which students have not used for over a year now should not be taken from them. But there are many students who have not paid their fees when the colleges were open before Covid-19 stuck. It has become difficult for us to run the administration as we have to pay the electricity bills, water bills and maintenance”.
Former senate member Nandkumar Nikam said, “we agree that Covid-19 has created financial problems for many, but many students have not paid their regular fees. If again there is reduction of fees, the colleges will face difficulty in managing the administration.
