Pune: Thieves Blow Up ATM, Steal Cash

Chakan, July 21, 2021: Unidentified thieves blew up the ATM of Hitachi Company at Bhamboli (Tal. Khed) and decamped with cash.

Bhamboli village is in the second phase of the Chakan Industrial Estate. This incident took place around 2.30 am today (21st).

According to Somnath Pinjan, the owner of the shop, “There was a loud explosion, so when I came out, there were two to three unidentified people. When they saw me, they shouted, ‘Shoot him first.’ As I was alone, I ran home. And then informed this to the police.”

The Chakan MIDC area is always prone to petty thefts but this is the first case of such thefts. Police are assessing how much cash was stolen from the ATM.
