Pune,19th April 2026: Passengers at Pune Railway Station can now access sleeping pods and an air-conditioned executive lounge, with the facility operational on the first floor of the reservation building since March 24, 2026, railway officials said.

Developed under the non-fare revenue (NFR) model, the project has been set up through a private operator, with an annual licence fee of ₹36,00,002 paid to the Railways. Officials said the facility aims to provide affordable and modern resting options within the station premises.

The AC Executive Lounge includes 26 sleeping pods and 17 three-seater sofa sets. Other amenities available at the facility include air-conditioned seating, television display, Wi-Fi, mobile charging points, lockers, CCTV surveillance, washrooms, a baby feeding room, and geyser-equipped facilities.

The entry fee for the lounge has been fixed at ₹40 per hour. Sleeping pods are available on a graded tariff system, priced at ₹300 for three hours, ₹400 for six hours, ₹500 for nine hours, ₹600 for 12 hours, and ₹1,200 for 24 hours. All rates are inclusive of taxes. At present, bookings can be made only at the facility, as online reservation is not available.

Divisional Commercial Manager Hemant Kumar Behera said the initiative is part of efforts to strengthen non-fare revenue streams while enhancing passenger amenities. “Facilities like executive lounges and sleeping pods not only improve passenger comfort but also contribute to non-fare revenue generation, enabling further investment in station services,” he said.

Railway officials indicated that similar passenger-centric facilities are being introduced at other stations as part of ongoing initiatives to expand services under the NFR framework.
