Maharashtra to Mandate ‘Jai Jai Maharashtra Majha’ Anthem in All Schools

Mumbai, 14th January 2025: The Maharashtra government has announced that the state anthem, “Jai Jai Maharashtra Majha,” will be made mandatory across all schools, including non-state board institutions. This directive is part of the government’s 100-day action plan for the school education department, unveiled on Monday in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
School Education Minister Dadasaheb Bhuse emphasized the importance of instilling pride in the state’s heritage and language through this initiative. “The anthem will be a compulsory part of school routines, and we are also focusing on strengthening the implementation of the Marathi language in all educational institutions,” Bhuse stated.
In addition, the government aims to geo-tag schools and anganwadis across Maharashtra to streamline the execution of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. A new State Curriculum Framework (SCF), aligned with the NEP, will be introduced in the upcoming academic year.
Bhuse also highlighted efforts to reintegrate out-of-school children into the education system. “Special measures will be taken to ensure children of brick kiln laborers, sugarcane cutters, and agricultural workers have access to education,” he explained.
Chief Minister Fadnavis spoke about the importance of regulating pre-primary schools, including the establishment of minimum standards for operations. He also praised the impact of the bicycle distribution program for female students. “This scheme has significantly improved school attendance among girls, and it must continue to empower them further,” Fadnavis said.
The government’s ambitious plan underscores its commitment to promoting education, preserving cultural identity, and ensuring inclusivity for children across the state.
