Masters Badminton Singh & Kaur Tournament 2023 Triumphs as a Showcase of Talent and Unity

Pune, 21 August  2023 – The third edition of the Masters Badminton Singh & Kaur Tournament, a resounding success, brought together badminton veterans from across the nation in a dazzling display of skill and camaraderie. Hosted at the esteemed Sanas Sports Complex, the event was organized by the collaborative efforts of Sikh Helpline Foundation, Stackera, VRLab Technologies, SICCA Automation, Rolls Mania, and RedDevil. The tournament marked an unforgettable day for over 100 participants hailing from cities like Mumbai, Pune, Kolhapur, Shrirampur, Indore, as well as the Sindhi and Punjabi communities, enriching the event’s tapestry of diversity.

The competition featured five engaging categories: men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles. Employing a round-robin format, each category saw six teams battle it out, with matches thrillingly poised and several of them reaching the wire. The crowning moments of victory were as follows:

Men’s Singles: Sumit Singh (Team A – Blue) triumphed over Rajwant Singh (Team B – Orange) with a score of 21-19, 21-18.
Women’s Singles: Gurnoor Kaur (Team C – Red) emerged victorious against Jasman Kaur (Team D – Yellow) after a nail-biting match ending 21-17, 18-21, 21-15.
Men’s Doubles: Harjas Singh and Kashish (Team E – Grey) outplayed Heero Motwani and Pawan Chandbhanani (Team F – Black) with a commanding score of 21-16, 21-14.
Praise was due to the dedicated efforts of Chief Organizer Mr. Raj Singh from Sikh Helpline, an accomplished badminton player and social activist with a track record of national and international victories. The event’s success was further attributed to the contributions of the organizing team, including the commendable efforts of S/Shree Ajay Raval, Shekhar Yadav, Sandeep Dangi, and Darshan Desai from the Sanas Sports Team.

A distinguished figure at the event, Shri Tara Singh, an Ex-Scientist from DRDO, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Impressed by the tournament’s role in promoting badminton among seniors and fostering health, he himself participated in the event at the age of 66. His presence during the award ceremony, where winners were felicitated with trophies, medals, certificates, and cash prizes, added an aura of prestige.

Noteworthy were the special recognitions bestowed upon young and emerging talents who displayed exceptional potential. Gurnoor Kaur (11), Jasman Kaur (11), Harjas Singh (13), and Kashish (18) received special trophies and certificates for their standout performances.

Beyond being a mere competition, the tournament embodied unity and community spirit. Participants and spectators alike relished nourishing breakfasts, refreshing fruits, and delectable lunch catered by the renowned Ms. Poonam Joshi (Mom and Daughters). The event also boasted top-tier medical facilities provided by sponsors and organizers, cultural performances by local artists, and engaging games for children.

The tournament garnered positive feedback from participants, families, and media, cementing its status as a grand success. The organizers extended their gratitude to sponsors, volunteers, staff, officials, and guests for their unwavering support. Building on this triumph, they announced plans for the fourth edition of the tournament in 2024, promising more teams and categories at a new venue.
