Pune: Demand For Eggs To Boost Immunity Raises Rates Also

Pune, September 17, 2020: With the increase in cases of coronaviruses disease (COVID19) patients in the city, the demands for eggs have also increased as it is considered a vital source for building immunity. This increase in demand has resulted in a surge in the prices of eggs.

With this increase in price, now one has to shell out Rs 70 to Rs 80 for one dozen eggs while the cost for one egg in Rs 6.5 to Rs 7. As the demand will continue to remain high, consumers will have to buy eggs at increased rates in future.

The number of coronaviruses (Covid-19) cases in the city, as well as rural areas of Pune district, has crossed one lakh mark. The number of active cases in the city is 18,000. The city is experiencing a cloudy, moist climate with changing weather patterns and therefore, doctors are advising infected patients to eat eggs along with various medicines to boost their immunity.

As a result, egg consumption has increased. In Pune city, eggs are being sourced from poultry farms in Pune district and division. A large number of eggs are also brought from Hyderabad which are distributed in other places including suburbs.
