Ration Supply To Be Closed From 1st February If Not Linked To Aadhaar Card

Pune, 8 January 2021: Central Government has issued notice to beneficiaries of the National Food Security Scheme and Antyodaya Food Scheme to link their ration card with mobile numbers and Aadhaar card.

There are 13.32 lakh beneficiaries of the schemes in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad. So far 10.61 lakh (79.66%) beneficiaries have linked their ration card to their mobile number and Aadhaar card.

The step has been taken to bring more transparency in the public distribution system (PDS). Hence, the government is trying to increase the number of Aadhaar and mobile number by using e-pos devices in public distribution systems.

The campaign is being implemented in eleven zonal offices of Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad city. The objective of the campaign is to link the ration card of each beneficiary with its mobile number and Aadhaar card before thirty-one January.

The process will be done during the monthly distribution of foodgrains. The shop wise list of beneficiaries who have not undergone Aadhaar seeding has been prepared. The instructions regarding the process have been already given to eleven zonal Offices.

eKYC verification and mobile seeding facilities are available at every ration shops and in the concerned zone office. All the zone Officers, Supply Inspectors, and shopkeepers have been trained for the process.

All the beneficiaries are advised to take the Aadhaar card of all the family members registered in the ration card to the concerned Ration shop and complete the eKYC verification. For eKYC, it is necessary to provide the current mobile number of at least one member of the family.

The Pune Foodgrains Distribution Officer has notified in a press release that it is mandatory to complete the formalities before 31 January. If they fail to complete the procedure within the deadline then they will be suspended from the benefits of Ration shops by the next month.
