No Untoward Incident In Pune On First Day Of MNS Threat To Remove Loudspeakers From Masjids, 58 MNS Workers Detained

Pune, 4th May 2022: The first day of the call for Hanuman Chalisa recitation by Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) in front of the mosques passed peacefully. Pune city police had turned the city into a fortress since morning and had detained 58 MNS workers. They were later released shortly afterwards. Preventive notices were issued to 234 people.
MNS Chief Raj Thackeray had called for chanting Hanuman Chalisa in front of mosques where loudspeakers are not removed. The first day in Pune has passed peacefully. Police had been deploying heavy security bandobast outside mosques in the city since morning.
Meanwhile, MNS workers performed Maha Aarti at Hanuman Temple at Khalkar Talim Chowk in the morning. MNS workers were in large numbers at this time. Police had also deployed a large force there. Activists along with MNS office bearers were immediately detained by the police after the Maha Aarti. Police also detained activists from Hadapsar and Kondhwa areas.
Muslim delegation meets Police Commissioner
A delegation of the Pune city’s Muslim community met Police Commissioner Amitabh Gupta today evening. They assured the administration of their cooperation. The Commissioner of Police asked them to abide by the rules.
