Pune, 4th May 2022: Shiv Pratishthan founder Sambhaji Bhide Guruji’s name has been dropped from the chargesheet in the Bhima Koregaon violence case due to insufficient evidence against him, the Pune Rural Police has informed the Maharashtra State Human Rights Commission. The report has been submitted to the commission.

Pune Rural Police had registered a case against Bhide in the Bhima Koregaon violence case. Earlier, chargesheets were filed against 41 accused in the case. The information that Bhide Guruji’s name was omitted from the chargesheet was given by the Pune Rural Police during a hearing before the Human Rights Commission recently. Police told the commission that Bhide Guruji was not directly involved in the violence.

On January 1, 2018, there was violence between two groups at Bhima Koregaon during a commemoration of a battle there. It was alleged that Bhide Guruji was involved in the case.

“The chargesheet was filed in the case a few months ago. According to the complaint, the police had investigated the case. There was no evidence against Bhide Guruji. Therefore, he has not been charged,” said Bhide Guruji’s lawyer Pushkar Durge.
